Mindfulness and Wellness Coach, Meditation Guide, Yoga, Zumba and Fitness Instructor, Writer and diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Since early childhood I have suffered with mental health issues ranging from anxiety attacks, self harm, headaches, depression, bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder.
The journey up to today has been challenging, but what I have learned along the way has been life changing.
Up until the age of 26 I refused to seek medical help and just carried on living with these conditions as if it were normal and just part of who I was. I was determined to fix myself naturally and for a short period it worked, until 2011 when suicidal thoughts became a lot more than ideas. I couldn't carry on anymore. I didn't want to carry on anymore. Everything seemed so worthless, I was a heavy dark mess of numbness and for me there was no other way out. The idea of taking medication seemed weak to me and I thought I could just deal with it.
Looking back at this time of my life I can see now how unwell I was. Thankfully, with the help of my partner, I accepted medical help and advice.
From that day the way I viewed my mental health completely changed. There is something in my brain that doesn't work properly and like any other illness I need treatment and to look after myself. Now that I have accepted this I can feel when an episode is coming on and I can deal with this in the best way. If I need to rest I will rest, if I need help I will ask for it.
But most importantly I have changed the way I live my life.
I have studied meditation in depth and have trained with Buddhist monks in their Dhammakaya Temple, took courses in mindfulness meditation, guided mediation, angel and spirit guide meditation, chanting and Yoga. I believe Yoga is a meditation experience, the way you mindfully move your body in and out of poses using your breath to cleanse and create energy is so wonderfully amazing for quietening the mind and gaining clarity.
Living a more conscious life has made the biggest and most positive change to my mental health. Throughout this blog I want to share with you ideas, tips and advice I have learned along the way that has created balance in my life. I will share with you any upcoming events, guided meditations, websites, books and more...
I dedicate this blog to all you lovely people that want to create balance and move forward into your conscious present life. With Love xx
